Gimmes Privacy Policy
1. What Gimmes is
Gimmes is a golf scoring and social app. It lets golfers track rounds, keep a handicap, run side games, chat during rounds, and keep side-game tallies. Settle-up totals in Gimmes are reminders only — the app does not move real money.
2. Information we collect
- Account details: email address and password handled by our auth provider (Supabase Auth). We also store your display name and optional profile fields such as home course or city and a handicap.
- Profile photo: if you upload one.
- Golf activity: rounds, scores, stats, side games, group and round chat messages, and any photos you attach to rounds or courses.
- Social graph: friend connections and group memberships.
- Location: precise location only when you give permission, used for nearby course search and in-round GPS/aerial features.
- Diagnostics: basic error and performance data to keep the app stable.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Provide scoring, stats, social, and Plus features.
- Calculate your handicap from posted differentials.
- Process Plus subscriptions and apply offer codes.
- Keep the app secure and respond to support requests.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not build third-party advertising profiles from your rounds or location.
4. Sharing
Other Gimmes users can see information shared in your profile, rounds, and friend groups according to your privacy settings. We share data with service providers such as Supabase (hosting and authentication), OpenGolf (course data), and map / aerial imagery providers to power course features. We may also disclose information if required by law.
5. User content & safety
You can report posts, comments, messages, profiles and photos, and block other users. We review reports within 24 hours.
6. Payments
Gimmes Plus on iPhone is sold through Apple In-App Purchase and processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to confirm subscription status. We receive your subscription status (plan, renewal and expiry dates), never your payment details.
7. Retention
We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in the app: Settings › Delete account. This permanently deletes your profile, photo, your own rounds and scores, comments, group messages, likes and settings. Where you appear in rounds, events or leaderboards that belong to other golfers, your name is replaced with “Former golfer” so their history stays accurate. Copies in backups expire within 30 days. Deleting your account doesn’t cancel an Apple subscription; cancel it in Settings › Apple ID › Subscriptions.
8. Your choices
- Edit your profile and privacy settings in the app.
- Control location access through your device operating system.
- Delete your account in Settings › Delete account, or contact us for a copy of your data.
9. Children
Gimmes is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
10. International users and security
Data may be processed in the United States. We use TLS and access controls to protect your information, but no online service is 100% secure.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of Gimmes after a change means you accept the updated policy.
12. Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, USA.
